"Vogue Singapore is embracing and celebrating the spirit of the nomad. The traveller’s urge to broaden one’s horizons—in mind, eye and body. The golden dawn of sunrise, the blues of vast open skies, and the amber hues of sunset. Jewels that paint with all the colours of a gorgeous summer's day. As we slip into summer and begin to fantasise about much-needed escapes and romps, why not embrace the colours of a beautiful day with jewels that kindle a nomad’s urge to wander?"
"Collectively titled Words to Live By, the jewels center antique glass Tassie intaglio seals, each engraved with a phrase once meant to quietly communicate values, hopes, and convictions, according to Seal & Scribe founder and designer Shari Cohen. The mottos on the seals have “already lived many lives,” says Cohen. “Now they begin a new chapter—offering strength, meaning, and intention to those who wear them.”"
"For its latest collection of rings, jeweller Seal & Scribe has curated a selection of antique glass seals with curiously apt text only, leaving them wide open to interpretation. When Shari Cohen, founder of the jewellery brand Seal & Scribe, came across an antique green-glass seal with the words No caution guards us from surprise, it felt like a message for right now. A sign of the times."
"Trends are cyclical in jewelry and fashion, which is why vintage and antique jewelry is always relevant. Now we're seeing a vintage-adjacent category that's catching on big-time with jewelry aficianandos and designers alike: upcycled fine jewelry. At jewelry brand Seal & Scribe, using vintage intaglio seals is "embedded in the brand's DNA" according to founder Shari Cohen, and they take center stage in nearly all of the brand's designs."
"Send a message or show off your personality with a signet ring. Having moved beyond simple monograms, modern designers are using the classic signet ring as a miniature canvas for compelling storytelling - carving, bejeweling, and enameling intricate engravings (creatures, symbols, landscapes, and more) that reflect a future owner's personal timeline, beliefs, or aspirations."
"We are living in interesting times, to say the least, and for those of us who feel like we could use more good fortune, there are plenty of elevated jewelry pieces available from designers who are doing fresh takes on traditional lucky symbols."
"The Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac symbolizes vitality, freedom, speed, and ambition. People born in Horse years are thought to be energetic, independent, and natural leaders who enjoy new challenges. This period is seen as dynamic, encouraging bold action and progress, as shown in the saying, Mǎ Dào Chéng Gōng, meaning "instant success" or "success arrives as soon as the horse appears". The energy of the year often leads to quick changes and personal growth for those who act with courage and purpose."
"Get that Wuthering Look To capture the Wuthering Heights aesthetic, a jewel doesn’t need to be chronologically precise. It’s less about historical accuracy and more about mood—a feeling that can be achieved with modern and antique pieces alike. Look for delicate over dramatic: heirloom-inspired designs, moody-hued gemstones, whisper-thin chains, and sentimental motifs. The goal isn’t to dress as if you’re attending a Regency ball, but to channel the spirit of it. In other words, let your jewelry feel like it holds a secret—much like the story itself. "
"Happy Lunar New Year! In the Lunar calendar, 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse and jewelry designers are embracing equestrian themes. Horse and horseshoe motifs aren’t new in jewelry, but their use is increasing, in part due to the continuing popularity of Western wear. According to ChineseNewYear.net, the Year of the Horse symbolizes adventure, vitality, and momentum. Jump on the equestrian trend with these 20 selects featuring horses, horseshoes, bits, stirrups, and even a horse-drawn carriage."
"For the art-history devotee and romantic at heart, Seal & Scribe offers a Victorian-era reverie through its Love Letters capsule. This antique ring features two bound hearts engraved "Separated but not Disunited", a poignant symbol for long-distance love or constant travel."
"There’s no better time than Valentine’s Day to admire the many jewels imbued with love. Whether it is love for a partner, family, friends, or oneself, jewelry with heart motifs, cherub references, pink pearls, and rubies galore showcase the feeling of love. Just ahead of Valentine’s Day, Stuller also named “Signature Red” as its color of the year for 2026. Feel the love in these 14 selections celebrating Feb. 14."
"Looks that are in the same romantic vein as those Robbie is wearing for the premieres are being featured by independent designers and antique dealers. Therefore, if you want to get in on the Wuthering Heights theme or trend before the film is out on February 13, you may want to check out these pieces."
"Amethyst is a gemstone to watch in 2026. As the birthstone for February, it is timely to highlight this month; however, it will have conversational staying power all year long. The gemstone’s rich, purple hue looks totally different when set in white metal versus yellow metal, giving individuals a lot of style variety. Amethyst also looks stunning in crystal, geode, faceted, and cabochon form. Most importantly, amethyst’s affordability can drive demand amid the pricing volatility that is consuming conversations in other parts of the jewelry space. Here are some gorgeous amethyst options to explore."

"On the creative side, current political events have also influenced the brand's orientation. We are not guided by trends, but we are fully aware of what is happening in our country. The capsule collections we are working on are inspired by themes such as protection, universal love, and strength. More than style, it is content that reflects the tensions of the present. Our desire is that the Seal & Scribe jewelry wearer can feel protected, strong, safe and loved."
"For retailers, ’tis the season to continue stocking up on what you think your clients will want for the holidays in various price points. Here we have chosen a range of different styles in earrings, pendants/necklaces, bracelets and rings that are on trend yet enduring, classic yet with a relevant and timely vibe. These styles will act as contemporary staples or update pieces already in a jewelry wardrobe."
"Shari Cohen of Seal & Scribe gave her gem-setter quite the headache when she came up with a new twist on the polka-dot trend. Her Positano and Saint Tropez rings involved placing smooth cuts of bright turquoise or coral at the center, and setting tiny cuts of the opposite gem directly into the gold of the curvaceous shank to create little dots. Her setter told her she could more easily replicate this look with colored enamel, but Cohen retorted that “everyone does enamel now.” For her, showing off this popular hardstone was worth going the extra mile."
"Prep yourself. This might be controversial. Sapphires are the perfect birthstone. Perfect, you say? Yes, perfect. Everyone can find a sapphire that speaks to them. Some are drawn to the quintessential blue sapphires while others are pulled into a cloudy gray sapphire. There is no wrong way to love sapphires. For all those celebrating birthdays this month, enjoy the hunt of finding the perfect sapphire."
"Look, not everybody likes orange. You ask someone their favorite color, and more often than not you’re going to hear blue and green, maybe pink—but probably not orange. Still, orange does have the power to pull us in. JCK‘s Karen Dybis noted its prevalence at this year’s jewelry shows in Las Vegas and made the case for orange as a summer color, despite its close association with autumn and Halloween (pumpkin spice season, that is). Further driving the theory that orange is indeed summer’s hottest hue has been the rise of the Aperol Spritz—not the cocktail, but the color. That was all well and good enough to improve orange’s popularity, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway now that Taylor Swift has announced her next album."
"Vacation dressing begins with jewelry: colored stones, soft pearls, and unapologetic glamour. Sun-drenched, ocean-inspired, and effortlessly versatile — this season’s jewelry is designed to channel vacation mode. From stackable essentials in coral, moonstones, pearls, and turquoise to statement pieces and itty-bitty diamonds dangling from anklets, here are the jewels rewriting the rules of resort wear."
"Since its inception in 2016, Seal & Scribe has been recasting antique intaglio seals into pieces that are at once timeless and disarmingly modern. For founder and designer Shari Cohen, the journey began with a singular mission: to breathe new life into these miniature masterpieces of the past. But as the years unfolded, so too did her creative ambition. By 2022, the designer found herself drawn to a broader narrative. “I kept returning to the essence of what makes jewelry meaningful,” she reflects. “It was still about beauty, still about the signature Seal & Scribe language, but I wanted to move beyond intaglios as the focal point.”"
"Seal & Scribe Sets off Vacation Mode With Statement Rings. Founder Shari Cohen has built her brand, Seal & Scribe, on the philosophy of “reimagining and re-presenting antique intaglio seals in settings that are at once both classic and modern.” When she launched her brand in 2016, she focused solely on presenting antique treasures in a fresh, contemporary way. Fast-forward six years, and she found herself exploring new creative avenues - seeking designs that still expressed the Seal & Scribe aesthetic but without using intaglio seals as the centrepiece."
"The March birthstone pairs perfectly with hues of Mocha Mousse, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2025. Aquamarine is most certainly having a moment. With a lot of uncertainty in the world, the calming and peaceful color of aquamarine plays a part in why designers and consumers alike are turning to the stone. While the peaceful qualities are reason enough to love the gemstone, the jewelry featured in this Amanda’s Style File shows how aquamarines can also be powerful and empowering to those who wear them. Here are 18 Amanda’s Style File selects for the March birthstone."
"The Monaco ring, by Seal & Scribe Inspired by the refinement and glamour of the Mediterranean city state, this beautiful aquamarine cabochon ring has a secret. Nestled inside the under gallery, is an antique intaglio cast in white gold, bearing the motto ‘Deeds not words’."
"Jewellers trade in love stories day in, day out. Whether it is an engagement ring for an excited young couple, an anniversary gift for long-time lovers, or a first jewel for a cherished younger member of the family, jewellery carries so much heartfelt emotion. Yet this doesn’t make them immune to the romance of truly special moments. For Valentine’s Day, I asked six designers what the most romantic commission they ever received – or, indeed, made for their own loved ones – was, and why it left such a lasting impression on them. Here is what they had to say, in their own words."
"It’s time for our annual Valentine’s Day wish list, courtesy of our in-the-know friends who work in jewelry public relations. We asked each of them to select one piece they’d like to be gifted this Valentine’s—but with a slight twist. Last year, the jewel had to be red. But this year, as the snow still piles up outside (which is totally reasonable as it’s only February, but ick!), our minds can’t help but wander to warmer, sun-soaked days. And so the jewel on the Valentine’s wish list has to be one you can wear now but also well into summer (and even beyond)."
""If you look back to Tudor times, and even before that, one will find heart-themed jewels," says jewellery history buff Shari Cohen, whose passion for collecting vintage letter seals, often etched with romantic messages, was the founding of her brand Seal & Scribe."
"This is a gemstone celebration month. With the gem shows in Arizona, all gemstones are top of mind. However, amethyst will always be the crème de la crème of gemstones for February. As the birthstone for February, amethyst is really coming into its own with big and bold stones being used to create showstopping pieces of jewelry. From everyday staples to design-forward pieces, amethyst is a gemstone seen across many facets of fine jewelry. Seen here is Seal & Scribe’s “Freedom Moon” ring with hand-carved amethyst depicting a bird flying free of its cage, one of the 16 selects in this month’s Amanda’s Style File."
"At first glance, Hidden Messages: Passport Edition, Seal & Scribe’s petite new collection of rings named for famous French and Italian Riviera resort towns, appears to be just that: a palmful of pretty gemstone pieces inspired by the area’s most famous destinations (or the joys of travel in general).Seal & Scribe owner Shari Cohen says she arrived at these designs via a circuitous route. "If December can feel overwhelming, cure those blues with the best types of blues—turquoise, tanzanite, and zircons. December’s birthstone options deliver a wide range of blue hues, from the highly saturated blue zircons to sky blue turquoise and the intense blue and purplish hues of tanzanite. Anyone would be lucky to receive a gift of these magnificent pieces. If staring at them can induce a zen-like feeling, imagine what wearing them could do. Here are some special pieces of jewelry featuring December’s three birthstones..."
"“Another draw is the mystery and sentimentality of antique pieces,” posits Shari Cohen, founder of Seal & Scribe, a San Diego jewelry brand that incorporates antique seals and intaglios into modern designs. “Our clients don’t gravitate toward newly created intaglios. They prefer antique and vintage because they appreciate that these little objects are imbued with sentiments that transcend time and space. Something that was used to convey one message 300 years ago can still mean the same thing today, or it can be reinterpreted into a new meaning for today’s wearer.”"
"In the USA, Seal & Scribe shares that love of the history and mystique of antique intaglio rings, mostly Victorian and Georgian era. Some were quite utilitarian, especially the desk seals but Seal & Scribe turns them into miniature works of art set in rings or pendants and decorated with precious gems. While others were probably jewels originally etched in carnelian and amethyst and now re-set in gold rings."
" For Shari Cohen, founder of San Diego-based Seal & Scribe, which has built its name on setting antique glass seals and intaglios into contemporary jewellery designs, commissioning modern intaglios is a way to get around the unrepeatable nature of the originals she usually trades in. “We have experimented with newly carved seals when an antique seal is particularly popular,” she says, giving an example of an antique arrow-through-the-heart seal that was set in a signet ring. Such was the fervour over it, Seal & Scribe commissioned a carver to repeat the design on a synthetic ruby, and now sells it set on a repeatable necklace, playfully titled Everlasting Love Hearts & Arrows."
"I love this aesthetic for jewelry because it combines some of the best period styles with a bit of brightness—mourning jewelry of the Victorian age, for example, with modern colored gemstones and diamonds (jewel tones and metallics take this style next-level, according to Architectural Digest). Like a playful memento mori, if such a thing can exist."
"1980s-style excess is alive and well this season. Rather than paying homage to the decade’s association with greed, however, jewelry designers are emphasizing its vibe of decadence. They’re reinterpreting the era’s oversize silhouettes, hefty cuffs, and knuckle-duster rings in modern designs that convey a devil-may-care attitude about the ever-rising price of gold."
"Fall and prep school trends seem to always go hand-and-hand as soon as the temperatures drop and this season it’s incorporating the sporty trend that just doesn’t seem to be graduating anytime soon. The Fall 2024 runways were sprinkled with these trends; from rugby shirts to new-age bomber jackets and updated track pants to tweed “uniform” sets. It was a playground of savant influenced styles in patriotic hues of blue and red taking the lead."
"Be Careful Of What You’re Pairing If your contrasting metals aren’t directly touching one another, feel free to get adventurous with your jewelry selections, says Shari Cohen, the designer of Seal & Scribe. “But if you are wearing different metals next to one another, and they will be banging against or rubbing on each other, then I would be mindful of possible dings and wear and tear on your beloved pieces,” the expert adds. “For example, high karat gold (18K and above) is softer, as is sterling silver, so if you plan on creating a neck or wrist stack, or stacking rings, just be aware that lower karat metals are harder and they could create more wear and tear on your softer metal pieces due to abrasion.” "
"SHARI COHEN, Founder of Seal & Scribe, shifted from a distinguished career to embark on a new journey in jewellery design. She worked with the US Peace Corps, and later served for three-decades at International Relief and Development, but that changed when she wanted to create jewels that reflected a unique blend of her global experiences and artistic vision. Here’s her inspiring story of reinvention and creativity as told to Smitha Sadanandan."
"Shari Cohen created the first prototype of her Solid Gold collection in 2017, when on a hunch, she decided to make a mold of a very special seal. “It was one that I knew I would likely never see again – so, I created a mold of it ‘just in case’ but had no real plans as to what I would do with it.” It so happened that a client came to her; she was about to have very serious surgery and the seal spoke to her situation. “She was very busy preparing for the surgery and on the day of her operation, the seal she loved sold online.” A few months later, the client reached out to Shari asking about the piece. Although it had sold, Shari had an idea. “I explained about the mold I had made and how I could create a solid gold version of the same necklace.” This happy client inspired Seal & Scribe’s new Solid Gold collection."
"“At Seal & Scribe we are all about the unique and one-of-a-kind pieces that you will not find on anyone else. For us, it is easy to follow the non-trend trend as we simply do not pay attention to what is ‘in’ or ‘out’ at any given moment. We create each piece to speak to someone who values individuality, rarity, and personal connection to their adornment. Each piece speaks to someone’s soul, and our job is to match make that piece with its intended person, so trends are not even on our radar, to be honest.”"
"A desire for the unique has led some brands to seek alternatives to traditional monograms, initials and crests. Seal & Scribe collects antique Victorian and Georgian glass and hardstone seals that were once used for letters, and turns them into jewels with unusual messages. The romantic seals in its Love Letters collection let clients find their own interpretations of symbolism tailored to past loves."
"“I sat with those pieces for a couple of years at least, having no idea what to do with them beyond appreciating what they were as is,” Cohen says. “Then one day, I was looking at one of those seals and it hit me. They are miniature etchings sorely in need of a new frame.” Cohen sketched out some jewelry ideas and ran them past a friend in the business, who became her mentor. Cohen commissioned necklace and ring prototypes, and her friend offered to list them for sale to gauge interest. The first piece sold out in two hours."
"Cowboy core, cowgirl core, coastal cowgirl—all these (mostly TikTok-born) trends have been floating around the web for over a year now, percolating under other louder, more popular aesthetics that have been sweeping the social platforms. Until now, that is. Put on your hat and boots and giddyap, because the Western look is prime for a second act. Most obviously, there’s Beyoncé’s venture into country music that might tip the scales and cause us all to start buying belt buckles. But the upcoming festival season could also give a boost: Coachella and the like often inspire this sort of yee-haw dressing. And there have been enough cowboy boot sightings at Paris Fashion Week (both on the street and on the runway) to deem it a full-fledged trend."
"Seal & Scribe’s mixed metal offerings continue to be popular, particularly for those who are hard on their jewelry and don’t want an antique seal because they feel it might chip when worn regularly. “The mixed metal options enable clients to combine any gold or silver colors, allowing for a lot of customization — which our clients appreciate.”"
"The sentimental symbol makes a meaningful statement either for lovers exchanging presents on the commercially designated day of romance or for self-purchasing consumers looking for a new ornament to cherish. However one feels about Valentine’s Day, heart jewels are an indispensable offering in retailers’ showcases. From classic to modern interpretations, they are year-round covetable items."
"Make it personal with these considered and custom-made jewelry pieces—from delicate handcrafted bracelets to statement rings, and intricate, hand-painted charms these are thoughtful jewelry pieces to impress your Valentine."
"I’ve been looking forward to sharing today’s post with you since last year, when Shari of Seal & Scribe called me to tell me she was creating this new collection with antique seals and would my readers be interested in hearing about it? Now it’s here and I can’t wait to show you! Seal & Scribe’s Love Letters collection preserves these carefully carved antique wax seals by setting each seal in a luxurious, one-of-a-kind ring designed to complement that specific seal and its meaning. "
"A winged, cherubic Cupid softly stoops to better deal with his load: a wheelbarrow tipped to overflow with hearts. Above his head arcs the French word choisissez; each letter carefully carved onto a mould in an imperfect script that could only have been made by hand, and then cast in bottle-green glass. Choose, it implores us… choose love. "
"Cohen is focusing on what she can control. She has switched production from Los Angeles to her hometown of San Diego to cut down her personal carbon footprint, going from a six-hour round trip to a 20-minute drive. She is also considering sourcing melee diamonds from Canada and using mostly antique diamonds for larger cuts. Still, she says, “CSR goes beyond just the issues of where and how I source materials. It also includes what I stand for as a human being.”"
"“The French motto, ‘Plus ils s’eloignent, plus ils le serrent,’ translates to a most beautiful meaning: ‘Further they fly, the tighter the bond.’ I have modernized a Georgian era seal by molding and hand-casting the seal and creating a necklace with a diamond halo around it. It features two birds connected by an infinity knot, an elegant reminder of the powerful connection and deepening bonds that can develop when people are given the freedom to reach their highest potential.”"
"Retailers interested in these 16 talented designers can hop on to the Instagram page @essentialjewelrycollective to get a quick look at the designers distinctive styles and follow the links to their websites to learn more about each of these creative talents. “We have everything from emerging to well established independent designers, and if you look across the portfolios of the designers involved, you will see a group with strong individual points of view and price points.
