A luscious tablet of gorgeous bloodstone is the foundation of this antique Georgian-era seal. We believe it to be a bull’s head family crest with the motto Hold Fast. Two English Saint George’s flags are crossed behind. The bloodstone has some gorgeous splatters of red, seen in the second photo.
The Cross of Saint George is a red cross on a white background, which from the Late Middle Ages became associated with Saint George, the military saint, often depicted as a crusader. A bull in a coat of arms, on a crest or a shield, represents valour and magnanimity, bravery and generosity. The horns represent strength and fortitude.
What a wonderful seal for one looking for a talisman to remind them to be brave and never give up what they believe in; and always remember the importance of generosity and magnanimity. Would look fabulous as a necklace or ring, suitable for anyone!
