Another late Georgian / early Victorian era rebus seal. Notice the words "For" and "Live"? Then there is an image of a tree and an eye. Have you received the hidden love message? No? A hint: the tree is a classic Yew tree. When words and pictures are combined, they form a subtle yet heart-stopping declaration of love, "For You I Live!" How marvelous it must have been to be the receiver of a letter - an invitation to a ball perhaps - sealed with such an unabashed sentiment! Imagine the face of the lady whom this might have been intended for...she picks up the letter from a silver tray offered to her by her butler at breakfast...all eyes upon her as she turns the envelope over and sees the secret message contained in the seal! Would she be able to remain composed or would her burning cheeks give away her secret?
This seal is an antique glass faux bloodstone hailing from the 1800's. Perfect for a necklace or a signet-style ring.
